The Langtang Gosaikunda Trek takes hikers to the holy Gosainkunda Lake, which is located at an elevation of 4380 meters, via the well-known Valley of Glaciers. Every year, especially on August’s full moon day, pilgrims from both Buddhist and Hindu religions come together with the belief that a dip in its waters atones for sins committed during the previous year.

Gosaikunda Lake, a revered alpine freshwater body at 4,360 m, is a significant pilgrimage destination in Nepal, drawing thousands of devotees during festivals like Gangadashahara and Janai Purnima. Beyond its religious importance, the Gosaikunda trek offers an enriching experience through Sherpa and Tamang villages, showcasing the majestic Langtang mountain range and diverse flora, including rhododendron, bamboo, and pine forests.

Meaning “The living earth,” Langtang tells the story of a Lama who tracks down a fugitive Yak, assuming the Tibetan terms “Lang” for Yak and “Tang” for pursue. Located south of the Tibetan border, this small valley is surrounded by lower snow-capped hills to the south and the Himalayas to the north. High solitude and spiritual resonance characterize this world, which is inhabited by Tibetan Buddhists.
